I just realized that I have not posted in 2 weeks and felt a wave of disappointment wash over me! Just a quick note to break up the Monday! I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving! For those that went shopping on Black Friday, well, you have way more ambition than I do!
What'd I do instead of getting my turkey over-dosed butt out of bed at 2am to go shopping? I bought my Christmas present from my husband to me online! It was much more conducive to my Thanksgiving laziness and I got a pretty good deal!
What did I get?! I'm getting there... be patient! :) First off, I always said I would officially feel old when I got excited about receiving household appliances. Well... call me Granny because I ordered myself.....
... A lovely KitchenAid Stand Mixer!
I'm so excited for it to come so I can make all sorts of yummy things! But first let's talk about the deal I got. First, I googled to find out the difference better the Classic or the Artisan mixer (other than the $100 dollars). I decided Artisan would be the way to go based on some reviews I read! Then I googled to see what stores had the best deals. I checked out Bed Bath & Beyond, Macy's and Kohl's. Kohl's was the winner with a $30 instant rebate and free shipping. Next, I googled "Kohl's promotional codes," and jackpot: an additional 20% off. Nothing makes you feel better than a putting in the online promo code and having it actually work! So... my original $299.99 mixer will be mine for $215.99. On an even better note, I just went to Kohl's and they are either sold out of the one I bought, or they raised the price because the least expensive one I can find is $442.99!! I was pretty darn proud of myself, and my hubby was super excited that I found the deal and basically did his Christmas shopping for him.
Now, if you have totally found this post to be boring, I apologize. Here are some yummy snacks that I will be making with my new BFF Mr. Pistachio Mixer:
These fabulous cookies that I made in Halloween colors last month will be much easier now!
Cookie dough bar? Yes please!
Once I get the pasta attachment it will make it sooo much easier to make homemade pasta!
Anyway... that's my little diddy to break up the day! Can't wait until it comes!! :)
You are going to be so happy with your Christmas present. I never add even an electric hand mixer until after i married at age 25. I did not splurge on a stand mixer (KitchenAid Classic) until I was it my mid 30s. You are a smart young woman to go with the Artisan. I expect it will last you the rest of your cooking life.
ReplyDeleteGotta love homemade pasta--especially when you "get" to eat it three times a day/every day!!!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm as excited about your Christmas gift as you are. You would be proud of me, Brandi. I made 70 chocolate cookies last night and brought them to school today to give to all the other seminarians from around the world. I go to school with a lot of guys from Africa, Asia and South America, and it was their first chocolate chip cookie for many of them.
Anyway, a handy-dandy kitchen mixer would have made life a whole lot easier than the wooden spoon I was using (speaking of wooden spoons: remember when we drank splinters of wood in our strawberry daqueries?). Anyway, I had a fun time spreading joy through baked goods over here, and the only thing I was missing was you. Love you, beautiful lady.
